In partnership with the Mecklenburg County ABC Board, we've launched the Life Restoration Program that begins working with men immediately after incarceration, providing group counseling sessions as well as life skills and business training. Upon discharge, we give men a returning home backpack with necessary goods such as interview attire, underwear, and toiletries. As our program evolves, we intend to connect offenders with mentors who will assist them in setting goals and navigating the free world. We also aim to give job placement and housing arrangements prior to their release since we feel that work possibilities empower people.

STUDY GROUP
Group study sessions will be based on the book, "Getting Out and Staying Out" by Demico Boothe. Group study sessions will act as a support system and help participants understand self-worth, stable relationships, the importance of employment and long-term goals of entrepreneurship and self-employment.
INTRODUCTION TO ENTREPRENEURSHIP
MENTAL HEALTH / SUBSTANCE ABUSE COUNSELING
All participants must complete a mental health screening and assessment, as well as at least (1) one-on-one counseling session with our on-site licensed therapist. A personal development strategy will be proposed, which may involve referrals to additional programs and resources, particularly for individuals suffering from substance misuse.
INTRODUCTION TO FILM & VIDEOGRAPHY
This program component aims to increase your earning potential and provide you with a greater chance of success than the traditional low-wage occupations available to the majority of formerly incarcerated citizens. You will learn the fundamentals of business structure, accounting, marketing, branding, and customer retention.
This OPTIONAL course is aimed to teach the principles of video production and equip you with another skill that could be beneficial in beginning your own freelance business or production company.
You will learn camera operation, lighting, screenplays and storyboarding, sound design, video editing software, video production phases, and visual storytelling.

Men and women released from correctional facilities receive minimal support and preparation for their new lives outside the prison walls. Inadequate assistance and resources make their re-entry into communities a challenge.
Bunk 57 provides a community of support as well as backpacks to these citizens to help them achieve a fresh start. The backpacks include the following essentials:

Dress shirts, t-shirts, boxers, and socks
